Group call for removal of AMELTAN National president, High Chief Emmanuel Isijana Samuel, Owurong III

A group of concerned registered Medical Laboratory Technician has called for an urgent removal of their National President, High Chief Emmanuel Isijana Samuel, Owurong III
The concern group are members of the Association of Medical Laboratory Technicians and Assistants of Nigeria (AMELTAN) across the six geopolitical zones of the country.

The group link the negligence and lackadaisical attitude of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) to nonchalant and selfish act of their National executive led by High Chief Emmanuel Isijana.

According to the concern member,  'National AMELTAN collides with the MLSCN to defraud members through a 2 unit annual CPD for 15,000, after which the national association will go into hibernation for another one year.'

Group added, "despite maltreatment of  Medical Laboratory Technicians cadre, MLSCN still mandated technicians to pay annual registration fee, and a mandatory union dues to AMELTAN".

Also Read:

"In exchange for the continual defraud of members, the council gave Mr Isijana a soft landing scientist course approval as an appreciation for the benevolent  received for the past years by council and his continual leader of the Association."

Mr Isijana and his executive still continue the manipulation of the Association of Medical Laboratory Technicians across the country despite the fact that he is no more Technician by designation because of the benefits and prosperity he enjoy on the post from the council.

The group frown at the leadership of Mr Isijana, Uworon III, as the National President due to his insincerity to the task given to him.
Hence, we compels all the state Chairmen to take the fight to the next NEC meeting and remove him as the AMELTAN President."

Others issues faced by Medical Laboratory Technicians across  Nigeria for the past 25-30 years includes:

1. Change of Nomenclature
2. Academic Career Progression
3. Licence to practice instead of work permit.
4. Removal of the clause: Working under the supervision of scientists from their job description
5. Inclusion of Medical Laboratory Technician into the Council board.
6. Entry / Termination point for technicians
7. Travelling far distance for Council Examination after completion of Medical Laboratory Technician training.
8. Exorbitant charge on students for Council/board examinations, induction, and indexing.
9. Definition of Medical Laboratory Technician Certificate by ministry of education
10. Review of the 2003 ACT that establish MLSCN, for the effective inclusion of Medical Laboratory Technician e.t.c among many others.

As a result of these and more, the group call for immediate removal of Mr Isijana as the national president and call for the Federal Government intervention towards the resolution of above issues.

Mr Isijana and his set of executive had been in the office since 2011 and refused to take any proactive step for the progress of the Association.
Enough is Enough.
