AMELTAN National and Isijana: MLSCN suspend collection of AMELTAN due

Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) suspends the collection of AMELTAN due along with annual registration fee following the failure of the national president of the Association of Medical Laboratory Technicians and Assistants of Nigeria (AMELTAN) stepping down after becoming a scientist.
The information contain in a circular released by the council dated 13th April, 2022 with a reference Number MLSCN/PRD/VOL. 1B/086/2022 the the title SUSPENSION OF COLLECTION OF AMELTAN DUES  and singed by the AG. Director of MLT/A Regulation and Discipline, stated that:

"The MLSCN Governing Board, at her 2022 first quarter sitting, has directed that collection of AMELTAN dues be suspended pending the time another National Executive of AMELTAN is constituted and formally presented to Council.

"The above directives is necessitated by the upgrade of the current AMELTAN president from Medical Lab. Technician (MLT) to Medical Lab. Scientist (MLS) by virtue of his upgrade the office of the AMELTAN president has automatically been vacant as he cannot be an MLS and occupy the office of AMELTAN president, such unlawful continuous occupation of that position if allowed would amount to an illegality and go contrary to the provisions of the AMELTAN bye laws/constitution.

"Thus there is the need for a bye election to be conducted to fill the vacancy in the office of the president

"You are, in view of the above, expected to suspend incorporating the Association due into intended inductees' bill till further directive/information is received from Council.

Prior to the release of this circular some Group of Medical Laboratory Technicians had call for the removal of AMELTAN President which triggered reactions and counter reaction among members that are loyal to the President and they Stops members from posting on their National WhatsApp platform

By the virtue of this circular, any Medical Laboratory Technicians that want to pay for their annual registration fee (instead of issuing license) will not pay the mandatory AMELTAN due to MLSCN until the new Executives of AMELTAN are constituted.
