Police Arrest Leader Of Gang That Attacked Radio Station In Ibadan

OPERATIVES of the Oyo State Police Command have arrested Ayobami Erinfolami, one of the suspected robbers who recently attacked a radio station, Fresh FM, in Challenge, Ibadan.

Speaking during the parade of the suspected armed robber and others arrested for various crimes at the police headquarters at Eleyele, Ibadan on Tuesday, the state Commissioner of Police, Ngozi Onadeko, newly promoted to an Assistant Inspector General of Police, said that the suspects, who specialised in robbing hotels, hospitals and other public places, had attacked the radio station on April 10 and dispossessed employees on duty of huge sums of money, expensive mobile phones and an FM Radio transmitter laptop at gunpoint.

Onadeko said the incident was reported at the Monitoring Unit of the command led by the Commander, CSP Olusola Aremu, and an investigation was launched to apprehend the perpetrators.

The police boss said a similar operation was carried out by members of the gang at different hotels within the Ibadan metropolis, while on March 24, the gang also stormed a hospital at Ring Road area, where patients and medical workers were attacked and dispossessed of their values.

SSANU protests sack of 23 FUNAAB workers, indicts EFCC

MEMBERS of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) yesterday rallied support for the 23 workers sacked by the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) in Ogun State. The association protested the sack by disrupting movement into the campus while they accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of betrayal by releasing the names of the whistleblowers to the management of FUNAAB. As early at 6.30am on Monday, the SSANU members blocked entrance into the Alabata campus of the university with bonfires and vehicles were used in blocking the road, just as the aggrieved protesters continued to chant various anti-management songs. Doctors remove 40 knives from man’s stomach

A man in India spent two months swallowing knives and had 40 of them surgically removed from his stomach, according to the doctor who led the operation. “He had a wild urge to consume metal. Even for us, the experienced surgeons, it was frightening,” Dr. Jatinder Malhotra told  CNN.  “We were so nervous… a small mistake could have taken the patient’s life.
