FCT Police Command confirms robbery attack at Queens Efab Estate Kasana, Gwarimpa

Police recover explosive device in Kaduna beer jointThe FCT Police Command on Monday confirmed that an attempted robbery attack occurred in the early hours of Monday at Queens Efab Estate at Kasana, Gwarimpa adding however that operative’s of the Police Command foiled the attack following a distress call from the estate.

Incidentally, Queen’s Efab Estate is located in the same vicinity with Jenew Estate which sources ealier erronously named as the estate that was attacked.

A statement by the spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, DSP Josephine Adeh said, “The attention of the FCT Police Command has been drawn to news making the rounds in some sections of the media space alleging erroneously that bandits attacked an estate in Gwarinpa Estate, Abuja, and abducted residents.

“The Command wishes to set the records straight that on the 6th June, 2022, a distress call was received from Queens Efab Estate, Kasana, Galadima Area that there was an ongoing armed robbery operation.

“Operatives of the Command attached to Galadima Divisional Headquarters swiftly responded and upon arrival at the Estate, the robbers took to their heels.

“The gallant operatives however gave them a chase which led to them abandoning some items they had already stolen including some phone and laptop’s.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Babaji Sunday, however assures residents of the Command’s commitment to their safety and of swift response to all distress calls.

“In addition to the above, members of the public are urged to remain vigilant, strengthen partnership with the Police as touching the rendition of prompt and actionable intelligence, reporting any suspicious or abnormal occurrence to the Police through the following emergency lines: 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653, and 08028940883, While the Public Complaint Bureau (PCB) desk, could be reached on: 0902 222 2352.

Meanwhile, Residents of Jenew Estate after Queens Efab in Gwarimpa on Monday denied that suspected bandit’s attacked the estate in the early hours of Monday noting that the estate have an internal security network that is complemented by other security agencies.

The resident’s made the dusclosure against the backdrop of widespread media reports which broke out on Monday noting that the estate was attacked and some of the residents abducted.

A statement by one of the residents, Obiora Ifoh said, “The residents of Jenew Estate woke up this morning to a shocking news that the estate was attacked in the early hours of today (Monday) by suspected bandits and that unspecified number of residents were allegedly kidnapped.

“Jenew Estate has no incidence of attack. The estate has an internal security network that is fully complemented by other security agencies with all night patrol. The security has not been breached and the safety of the residents is clearly not compromised.”
