Gunmen attack largest estate in Abuja, abduct residents

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have attacked Gwarinpa Estate, the largest housing estate in the Federal Capital Territory and kidnapped some residents.

According to reports, the bandits invaded the estate on Monday morning, June 6, 2022 between 1am and 4am.

A source who pleaded for anonymity said that the bandits, who were in large numbers, were armed with bows, arrows, and machetes, moving from one building to the other.

He further said that with the way they carried out the operation on the estate, unknown number of residents of the estate were kidnapped.

Efforts to reach the FCT Police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, proved abortive at the time of filing this report, but some Police officers were already arriving at the crime scenes.

This attack is coming barely 24 hours after Nigerians were thrown into shock with the Sunday’s attack on St Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State, where scores of worshippers were killed.

NANNM Issues 15-Day Ultimatum to FG on Nurses' Verification and Other Demands

The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) has issued a 15-day ultimatum to the Federal Government of Nigeria to address the long-standing demands of Nigerian nurses.  This decision was made during the NANNM's National Executive Council meeting in Abuja on August 28, 2024.
