ROTARY CLUB OF OBANTOKO: TREE PLANTING PROJECT
The Rotary Club of Obantoko carried out a Tree Planting Project at the Olikoye Ransome Kuti Memorial Hospital, Asero Abeokuta, Ogun State on 4th August, 2021.
Supporting Planet Earth/ Environment is Rotary International’s 7th Areas of Focus and RC Obantoko executed the project to support activities that strengthen the conservation and protection of natural resources, advance ecological sustainability reduce the effects of climate change and environmental degradation.
The Club planted 50 notable trees of 4 different species of Coconut (Cocos nucifera), Mango (Mangifera indica), Gmelina (Gmelina arborea) and Teak Trees (Tectona grandis) which will not only beautify the hospital environment but serve as shelter to multitudes of families and guests of patients who may be willing to wait for their loved ones under the trees. It will equally protect the hospital building against wild winds capable of taking off the building roof and destroy properties worth millions of Naira.
The project was witnessed by top officials of the hospital such as the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Olujimi Dipeolu, Chief Nurse, Mrs Taiwo F.O, Dr Osho and host of others while the Rotary Team was led by the President, Rtn. Olaoluwa Badiru, District Leader, Rtn. AG. Olusegun Kuyoro, Past Presidents, President-Elect, Rtn Olayinka Makinde, Club Secretary, Rtn. Alabi Kazeem O. and other members and intending members of the club.
