Police confirm release of kidnapped RCCG pastor, two others

The Police in Cross River State have confirmed the release of a pastor serving under Province 4 of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Calabar, Sunday Adeniran.

Gunmen had on Saturday morning kidnapped the pastor alongside a female teacher around Ikot Eneobong at 8 Miles.

But the police on Monday said the preacher, teacher and another victim had been rescued.
It was gathered that the victims were released on Monday morning near Scanobo filling station, Ikot Ekpo, 8 miles, Calabar.

Confirming their release, the state Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Irene Ugbo, said, “It was a strict direct order of the Commissioner of Police, CP Aminu Alhassan, to men of AKCS (Anti-Kidnapping and Cultism Squad) and they acted swiftly to secure the release of the victims.

“I want to commend the swift action of SP Awodi and his Dragon Squad. Their efforts yielded result and in no time, the victims are now in safe hands.

“I want to appeal to the public not to wait until something happens before they report. They should always report strange movement to curb this kind of ugly incident.”
