SHH CTCS organised the first empowerment program
Sacred Heart Hospital, Lantoro (staff) CTCS held their first ever seminar and empowerment program on Saturday 7th of February 2015 at the main auditorium of the Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing, Lantoro, Abeokuta.
The program is filled with so many empowerment lectures like Establishment and management of Fish farming and Snail production (A Profitable Venture) by Mr Alayode O T, Poultry Establishment and Management and Pig rearing and management by Mr Ojoawo O L before Mr David Ayelabola from OGSCOFED presented a paper presentation on cooperative management and its benefit on small/medium scale business.
The first speaker of the day Mr Alayode talks about the establishment and management of fish farming, encouraged all member to embrace the fish farming and talked about the reason we raised fish, the culturable fish, the water, soiyrce of water, characteristics of water for fish farming types of pond, construction and benefits of fish farming. Mr Alayode added that we need special attention to farm for fish and give the feeding formular of fish farming.
Snail fluid and pawpaw fluid can stop bleeding was part of the lecture delivered by Mr Alayode in Snail production, he added by talking about the types of snail to be used, their housing, feed and feeding, management practices, general and usefulness of edible snail. He added that most of the snail in the market can not be used because most of them were captured by chemicals, which has reduced their time of living.
Poultry establishment qnd management shed more light on part of the problems faced by poultry farmer, causes and the way out. Mr Ojoawo added that 98.3% of people that knows nothing about agriculture are now doing it. He talked about the branches of poultry like: Layers (eggs), Broilers, Turkey, water fowl and exotic bird (meat). He talked about the process of poultry from pullet to layer stage and added that other bird are for meat purpose. The care, medication, vaccinations and poultry disease

All the members were encouraged to put everything in practice.
