Female Bombers Plan To Detonate Explosives At Polling Stations - FG

The federal government on Thursday revealed plans by female
suicide bombers to hijack voter cards of female electorate, so
as to access polling stations to detonate explosives.
The Coordinator of the National Information Centre (NIC) and
Director General of National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr. Mike
Omeri, disclosed this at the centre in Abuja.
Omeri, who called for the consciousness of eligible voters,
particularly female electorate to safeguard their voters’ cards,
said recent intelligence reports indicated that unscrupulous
Nigerians had perfected plans to surreptitiously acquire the
voters’ cards.
“Recent intelligence reports indicated that unscrupulous
Nigerians have perfected plan to surreptitiously collect, buy, or
steal Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) of female voters,
handover same to female suicide bombers and create access
for them into polling centers where they will detonate bombs
and kill unsuspecting voters.
“By this information, therefore, Nigerians, especially female
voters are warned to remain vigilant and also guard and
preserve their PVCs,” Omeri said.
He also stated that there were ongoing operations in the
Sambisa forest and its environs, to dislodge insurgents from
their hideouts.
Meanwhile, details merged yesterday that about 7,500 troops
have been deployed by the African Union (AU) to combat Boko
Haram insurgency, as Nigerian government said the troops
were mainly mobilised from member nations of Lake Chad Basin
Development Commission (LCBC).
Member countries include; Cameroun, Republic of Chad,
Republic of Niger, Nigeria, Algeria, Central African Republic,
Libya, and Sudan.
He also stated that a tactical meeting on the modus operandi
of the force was ongoing in Cameroun.
Mike Omeri said the Chadian Chief of Defense Staff was in
Nigeria to consolidate on modalities of trans-border operations
with his Nigerian counterpart, Air Chief Marshall, Alex Badeh.
“The 7,500 AU-backed multinational force is to be composed
mainly in the Lake Chad Basin Commission areas. The
modalities of the operation of this force are being worked out
at a tactical meeting which started today in the Republic of
Cameroun,” he said.
