A man has been arrested in Tokyo on suspicion of drugging and
raping more than 100 women who responded to adverts he placed
for participants in a medical study.
Hideyuki Noguchi, 54, filmed himself assaulting the sedated women
and posted the footage online or sold it porn film producers, AFP
reported, citing police officials.
He allegedly made 10 million yen (£56,500) from selling videos of
the rapes, which took place over two years to November 2013,
according to local reports.
The victims, aged from their teens to their 40s, had responded to
Noguchi's adverts seeking volunteers for “clinical research
measuring blood pressure during sleep,” police said.
Noguchi, who is not known to have any medical training, arranged
to meet them at hotels and hot spring resorts, where he sedated
them before the attacks, police said.
Officers have confirmed at least 39 victims in Tokyo, Chiba, Osaka,
Tochigi and Shizuoka, a spokesman for police in Chiba, east of
Tokyo, said.
Detectives believe the total number of victims to be well over 100,
media reports said.
