MLSCN Registrar emphasised the vital role of accurate medical laboratory diagnosis in the fight against malaria

The Registrar, Prof. Tosan Erhabor, earlier today, emphasised the vital role of accurate medical laboratory diagnosis in the fight against malaria. He stated this during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MLSCN and the National Malaria Elimination Program (NMEP) at the MLSCN Headquarters in Abuja.
Prof. Erhabor noted that the MoU aims to enhance malaria diagnosis, laboratory practices, and sustainable elimination strategies. "By combining NMEP’s resources with MLSCN’s expertise, we are establishing a platform to train laboratory scientists and ensure the provision of accurate malaria diagnosis," he said.
Dr. Nnena Ogbulafor, National Coordinator of NMEP, emphasized the shared commitment to utilizing data-driven approaches to eliminate malaria and strengthen diagnostic capacity.
As part of this collaboration, the MLSCN Public Health Laboratory in Abuja will receive 42 state-of-the-art teaching microscopes through the Global Fund Grant Cycle. This facility, according to her, will serve as a national hub for malaria diagnosis training and certification.
