Osun youths protest high cost of living

A group of youths on Friday staged a peaceful protest in Osogbo, Osun State, decrying the rising cost of living, with a call on the government to immediately intervene.

The protesters, who wielded placards with inscriptions such as ‘change the unfavourable policies’, ‘Nigerians are suffering, we can’t cope again’, and ‘We are humans, stop mistreating the citizens’, among others, assembled along MDS Road, Osogbo very early.

Despite the large presence of police operatives near the scene of the protest, the youth kept singing songs expressing the frustration of many Nigerians occasioned by the harsh economy.

Addressing the protesters, the chairman, Osun Civil Societies Coalition, Mr. Waheed Lawal, said the protest would continue until the Federal Government finds solutions to the current economic hardship ravaging the country.

NAFDAC seals shop for allegedly selling unregistered aphrodisiacs in Zuba

Nafdac Building The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, on Thursday sealed a shop in Zuba, an outskirt of FCT, for allegedly selling unapproved aphrodisiacs to Nigerians. Some of the aphrodisiacs are: garin yansun, sabon mai-siket, ruwan jaraba, tunkude, fenugreek powder and al-khausara herbal syrup (man power). Bubuchiki Godiya, a member of the Federal Taskforce, Investigation and Enforcement Directorate of NAFDAC, said that “the agency received an Intel that Yunusa Adamu was manufacturing unregistered herbal preparation.” He Godiya said that the agency sent some of its team members to investigate and on arrival they found that there were many unregistered herbal drugs. He said that Adamu claimed to have purchased the herbal drugs from Kano and Kaduna markets. Objective The objective of the test was to measure the rate at which red blood cells settled at the bottom of a vertical tube over a specified period, helping to detect inflammation in the body. 2. Principle The test was based on the principle that red blood cells settle faster in the presence of increased plasma proteins, such as fibrinogen and immunoglobulins, which occur during inflammation. The distance the RBCs fell in a given time was measured and expressed in millimeters per hour (mm/hr). 3.
