Crisis Looming As Registrar Tried To Impose Rector On Polytechnic
Bearly six months after the upgrading of Ogun State College of Health Technology, Ilese-ijebu into Ogun State Polytechnic of Health and Allied Sciences, by Ogun state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
Investigations revealed that the just concluded process of appointing a substantive Rector for the Polytechnic is marred with irregularities and fraud perpetrated by the Registrar of the Polytechnic, Mrs Oyefesobi, who is fronting for the former commissioner of education now SA on education Prof Arigbabu by smuggling a non PhD certificate holder into the selection process. Against the advertorial placed by the Polytechnic, which clearly required qualified applicant to possess PhD certificate in discipline directly relevant to the specialised status of the Polytechnic, Mr Akinbo Rasaki Yinka of the department of Statistics and Mathematics at the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, who at the time of the advert and selection does not possess a certificate of Phd and does not have any related experience with the Polytechnic status was corruptly recommended for approval.
A report from an alumni of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro who claim anonymity proved that
"The man Mr Akinbo Rasaki Yinka is in deed of the department of Mathematics and he is holder of Bsc. Statistics. And that he is not in any form a health related person which is against the advert.
According to information obtained from a reliable source within the office of the former commissioner of education now SA on education Mr Akinbo Rasaki is the "anointed" candidate of Prof Arigbabu who had vowed to ensure Mr Akinbo becomes Rector of the Polytechnic. Out of the 9 shortlisted applicants, only Mr Akinbo holds a Master degree. He further explained that the first selection, interview and recommendation exercise conducted by the Governing Council was thrown into the waste bin because the most qualified and experienced candidate was not SA on education Prof Arigbabu's expectation.
It is on record that many other institutions of learning in Ogun State cannot breathe because of Prof Arigbabu's policy of "either my choice or nothing", he concluded.
