Joe Biden to Announce Nigerian-Born Adewale Adeyemo As Deputy Treasury Secretary

Nigerian-American diplomat, Mr Adewale ‘Wally’ Adeyemo, is set to be announced as the Deputy Treasury Secretary of the United States of America by the President-elect, Joe Biden. The position is equivalent to Deputy Minister of Finance. Reports available to  The Boss  suggests that Adeyemo will be working under former Federal Reserve Chair, Janet Yellen, who is set to be the next US Secretary of Treasury. Adeyemo, a Nigerian-born attorney and former senior international economic adviser during the Obama administration, who is currently the President of the Obama Foundation, previously served as the first Deputy National Security Advisor for International Economics from 2015-2016, and Deputy Director of the National Economic Council. When appointed, the 39 years old Nigerian would have occupied the highest level a Nigerian-American has reached in the USA Government in the 244 years history of the United States of America.

105 tested postive for HIV during COVID-19 lockdown in Ogun -Govt

No fewer than 105 persons have tested positive for HIV in Ogun state during the COVID-19 lockdown. The Commissioner for Health in Ogun State, Dr Tomi Coker, said this at a press briefing to mark the 2020 World AIDS Day with the theme “United to end AIDS in the midst of COVID – 19”. Coker said statistics show that 20,827 people are living with HIV in the state. According to Coker, with the figure, the state has the highest prevalence of the virus among South-West states. The commissioner, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Hospital Management Board, Dr Nafiu Aigoro, said the 20,827 patients have been placed on Antiretroviral Treatment to keep the HIV under control. She explained that Ogun State has a prevalence rate of 1.6 percent. Troops of Operation Fire Ball have eliminated five Boko Haram (BHT)/ISWAP terrorists and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition as well as bags of assorted grains in recent attacks on their hideouts in Borno. The Acting Director, Defence Media Operations, Brig.-Gen. Benard Onyeuko, disclosed this in statement on Sunday. Onyeuko said that Operation Fire Ball, a subsidiary of Operation Lafiya Dole, had continued to clear terrorists from their identified enclaves in the North East. He said the troops of Army Super Camp 11 Gamboru-Ngala, on Nov. 27, overran the terrorists’ hideout at Garal and Bulankesa Villages. He said that the troops eliminated two terrorists in the encounter while others fled in disarray with fatal injuries. Onyeuko said that troops deployed in Pulka also raided a terrorists’ logistics base at Ashigashiya on Friday, killing two terrorists while others escaped with debilitating gunshot wounds.
