DSS operatives invade houses of 4 Supreme Court judges

* A brother of one of the justices was also reportedly molested by the DSS officers during the raid.

Officers of the Department of State Services (DSS) have invaded the houses of four  Supreme Court Judges, Justices Walter Onnoghen, Sylvester Ngwuta, Adeniyi Ademola and Nnamdi Dimgba.

This is coming on the heels of reports that some DSS operatives rough handled Governor Nyesom Wike while trying to arrest a Federal High Court judge in River state.

Also, On Friday, October 7, 2016, security operatives in Gombe state, arrested Justice Muazu Pindiga, who served briefly as the Chairman of the Rivers State Election Petition Tribunal.

According to Punch, the security agents had surrounded the houses of the judicial officers before breaking in around 1:00 am on Saturday, October 8, 2016.

They also took Justice Ademola away after searching the houses around 5:00 am, reports say.

Justices Onnoghen has been touted to be the likely successor to the outgoing Chief Justice of Nigeria, Mahmud Mohammed.

According to reports, the DSS officials came with search warrants which could not be authenticated, and bore wrongs names.

Justice Dimgba’s brother was also reportedly molested by the over-zealous officers during the raid.

Justice Onnoghen lives close to Justice Ngwuta at the Judicial Officers’ Quarters in Abuja, while Justice Ademola and Justice Dimgba are neighbours at the Apo Legislative Quarters in Abuja.

Meanwhile, the DSS and the Nigerian Police, have jointly issued a security advisory to top government officials, following the kidnap and subsequent release of the wife of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele.
