Diabettes

Diabetes mellitus, or simply diabetes, is a group of metabolic diseases in which a person has high blood sugar, either because the pancreasdoes not produce enough insulin, or because cells do not respond to the insulin that is produced. This high blood sugar produces the classical symptoms of polyuria (frequent urination), polydipsia (increased thirst), and polyphagia (increased hunger). There are three main types of diabetes mellitus (DM). *. Type 1 DM results from the body's failure to produce insulin, and currently requires the person to inject insulin or wear an insulin pump. This form was previously referred to as "insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus" (IDDM) or "juvenile diabetes". *. Type 2 DM results from insulin resistance, a condition in which cells fail to use insulin properly, sometimes combined with an absolute insulin deficiency. This form was previously referred to as non insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) or "adult-onset diabetes&qu

New evidence in Flight 370 search explains plane's path

(CNN)-- New information from the Thai government bolsters the belief that missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 took a sharp westward turn after communication was lost. And it looks like that turn was no accident. A law enforcement official told CNN Tuesday that the aircraft's first turn to the west was almost certainly programmed by somebody in the cockpit. There is no indication of when the coordinates were entered into the computer. It could have been done during the flight or, as is more common, during preflight preparations, the official said. That evidence and the Thai data that surfaced Tuesday corroborate a leading theory from Malaysian investigators: The missing plane veered off course in a deliberate act by someone who knew what they were doing. But investigators still don't know who was at the controls, or why whoever was flying the plane apparently took it far from its original destination. An initial search of the pilots' personal computers and e-mails found n

Did you know that a teenage girl died because she was denied a….

The current minimum age for smear tests in the UK is 25. Unfortunately for one British family, these laws have cost them a young family relative. A year ago the then-18 year old Sophie Jones from Eastham started complaining of stomach pains. The medics thought she had Crohn’s disease. When Sophie, who was an aspiring model, continued having health problems, the doctors denied her smear tests because of her young age. Since there were no cervical cancer cases among women under the age of 20 in the past several years, the doctors excluded the possibility that Sophie was suffering from it. Unfortunately, by the time the girl was actually diagnosed with cervical cancer it was too late for her. The cancer had spread to a number of organs and the girl died earlier this March. source: Youtube.com Her family has set up an online petition entitled The Sophie’s Choice. The thousands of people who have already signed it are fighting to alter the current laws and let young girls have smear tests

The Portugal international scored twice on Tuesday evening to etch his name into the record books yet again

Cristiano Ronaldohas equaled Ferenc Puskas' goalscoring record for Real Madridafter scoring twice in the Champions League last-16 second-leg encounter against Schalke on Tuesday evening. The two-time Ballon d'Or winner scored the opening goal of the night on 21 minutes and then restored Madrid's lead after Tim Hoogland's 31st minute leveler to take his tally to 242 goals in just 236 games. The 29-year-old has reached that landmark total having played 25 fewer games and been with the club three years less (five) than Puskas (eight). Ronaldo's continued efforts in front of goal mean he retains the record of being the only Madrid player to average more than a goal a game. The Portugal international's next strike will move him into fourth place in the club's all-time top goalscorers list, with only Santillana (290), Alfredo di Stefano (307) and Rau (323) ahead of him.

answer to the IQ question

A + B = 76, A - B = 38, A / B = ?. A + B = 76 ... Eqn 1, A -B = 38 .. Eqn 2. From equation 2 find A, A - B = 38, A = 38 + B. Sub A into eqn 1 A + B = 76, 38 + B + B = 76, 38 + 2B = 76 collect the like terms. 2B = 76 - 38, 2B = 38 there4, B = 38/2 = 19. A + B = 76, A + 19 = 76, A = 76 - 19 = 57. A = 57, B = 19. A/B = 57/19 = 3.

China says its citizens didn't hijack Malaysia Airlines Flight 370

(CNN)-- China says it has found no evidence that any of its citizens on board Malaysia Airlines' missing Flight 370 were involved in hijacking or terrorism. Background checks on all passengers from the Chinese mainland on the plane has found nothing to support such suspicions, Huang Huikang, the Chinese ambassador to Malaysia, said Tuesday, according to the state-run Chinese news agency Xinhua. Authorities have said they are investigating all 239 peoplewho were on board the Boeing 777-200, which disappeared over Southeast Asia more than 10 days ago en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. According to the airline, 154 of the 227 passengers on board the plane came from mainland China or Hong Kong. Malaysia says the evidence gathered so far suggests the plane was deliberately flown off course, turning west and traveling back over the Malay Peninsula and out into the Indian Ocean. But they so far don't know who was at the controls or why whoever it was took the plane far away from

Doctors perform C-section on a turtle to save her life!

Keepers at Chengdu Zoo, China sent the turtle, called Dabao, to hospital for an x-ray to find out why she was so lethargic, reports China Central Television. "We were amazed to see that there were 14 eggs in her body," said Wu, the administrative director of the zoo. "We suspect she was having a difficult labour because too many eggs were congesting the outlet." The zoo sent the turtle to Chengdu 416 Hospital for a caesarean delivery, and doctors more used to human patients managed to improvise. The turtle hid inside its shell so the anaesthetist had to wait patiently and then act quickly when she popped her head out. Hospital director Dr Liu Wei said: "We decided to open the shell covering its stomach with a skull opener since the shell is about as hard as a human skull." It took more than two hours for the doctors to open the shell, remove the 14 eggs and then reseal the shell with epoxy resin. Zoo keepers say Dabao is now on the way to a full recovery

Did You Know That According To Some Old Myths, Birthmarks Indicate…

Birthmarks are rather common and come in all kinds of form, colour or shape. There is a theory about them stating that they are scars showing how a person supposedly died in a past life. However, proving the theory right would need to deal with proving reincarnation first which will open place to lots of questions that haven’t been given a firm answer yet. People have come up with many names regarding birthmarks – moles, spots, blemishes – but not a legitimate interpretation of their cause or purpose. Yet, a much simpler explanation of birthmarks suggests that they have to do with what a mother ate or did during pregnancy and that it sort of projected on the baby’s body.

Immigration jobhunt: Seven killed, 40 injured in stampede

At least seven people have been killed and more than 40 injured in a stampede at a recruitment venue in Abuja for thousands seeking job placement with Nigerian Immigrations Service. The stampede occurred early Saturday at the National Stadium as thousands of job applicants stormed the stadium gates. Witnesses said seven applicants, mostly trampled underfoot in the rush, were declared dead at the nearby National Hospital. The hospital said it was “still battling with the actual number” wounded applicants. The hospital’s director for management information service Tayo Haastrup told Daily Trust some wounded were treated and relocated to district hospitals in Garki and Maitama. Others have been admitted to wards or discharged, depending on the extent of their injuries, Haastrup confirmed. Immigrations officials are yet to comment. NIS advertised for only 4,500 positions nationwide, but tens of thousands of applicants turned out recruitment venues nationwide.

Did you know that Facebook and Rambo are among the banned ….

If you’re planning to name your baby Facebook or Rambo, you should think twice before migrating to Mexico. According to official reports, earlier this month the Mexican state of Sonora has officially banned 61 names from their name registries. Cristina Ramirez, Civil Registry director of Sonora, explained the reasons behind the new ban. The state registries have been filled with meaningless or strange names, such as Marciana (which translates into Martian) and Juan Calzon (Juan Underpants), which transform a child into a subject of bullying later in his/her life. In order to prevent bullying, depression and more derogatory names the state has decided to ban a list of names. The list, which includes 61 names, may expand, since officials are still going through 132 additional registries. Mexico isn’t the only one to ban strange baby names. “Ovnis” is banned in Portugal, since it means UFO, Japan has banned the name “Akuma”, which translates into Devil, and Malaysia has banned “Chow Tow”

SWEDISH MAN CALL POLICE ON COUPLE HAVING SEX ...IN THEIR OWN HOME

Police in Sweden were less than impressed after a man reported a couple to officers - for having sex in their own home. The 34-year-old man told police he was looking through the window of a house in Blekinge, southern Sweden, and saw a couple making love. Apparently outraged by what he had seen, he contacted police immediately and reported the lovers for sexual harassment. But local police were having none of it, and closed the case. "Having sex in your own home is not a crime," officer Johan Berntsson told the Blekinge Läns Tidning newspaper.

Missing Malaysian plane: Could it have landed?

(CNN)-- Yet another theory is taking shape about what might have happened to missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370: Maybe it landed in a remote Indian Ocean island chain. The suggestion -- and it's only that at this point -- is based on analysis of radar data revealed Friday by Reuters suggesting that the plane wasn't just blindly flying northwest from Malaysia. Reuters, citing unidentified sources familiar with the investigation, reported that whoever was piloting the vanished jet was following navigational waypoints that would have taken the plane over the Andaman Islands. The radar data doesn't show the plane over the Andaman Islands, but only on a known route that would take it there, Reuters cited its sources as saying.

Europe backs sanctions over anti-gay laws

The European Parliament has backed sanctions on Uganda and Nigeria to protest against their recent passing of anti-gay laws. Members of the European parliament (MEPs) approved a non-binding resolution on Thursday by a large majority which said the two countries violated the Cotonou accord on human rights, democratic principles and the rule of law. There should be targeted sanctions, such as travel and visa bans, against "the key individuals responsible for drafting and adopting" the laws, the resolution said. Additionally, there should be a review of the EU's "development aid strategy with Uganda and Nigeria, with a view to redirecting aid to civil society and other organisations rather than suspending it", a parliamentary statement said. EU Budget Commissioner Janusz Lewandowski, representing the Commission, told MEPs Brussels already "had very frank discussions with the two countries", with more talks planned. "The outcome of these contacts wil

DEAD INDIAN GURU FROZEN BY DEVOTEES

Devotees of a dead guru in India have told the BBC they put his body in a freezer to preserve him as they believe he will return to life to lead them. Ashutosh Maharaj was declared dead by authorities in Punjab on 29 January after a suspected heart attack. But, confident that he was merely in a state of deep meditation, his followers froze his corpse. He led the Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan (Divine Light Awakening Mission) which claims more than 30 million followers. "He is not dead. Medical science does not understand things like yogic science. We will wait and watch. We are confident that he will come back," his spokesman Swami Vishalanand told the BBC. He said that although doctors had declared Maharaj "clinically dead", he was actually alive and in a state of samadhi, which is the highest plane of meditation. The guru is thought to have been in his seventies

Mystery over law student’s death

How did Oladipupo Maranantha Ige die? This is the puzzle students of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in Ile-Ife, Osun State, could not unravel last week when news of the rumoured suicide of the 400-Level Law student broke. OLUWAFEMI OGUNJOBI (400-Level Language Arts) reports. “By the time you read this, I would have been dead.” That was the text the late Oladipupo Ige allegedly sent to his mother’s mobile phone on that fateful day. His mother, it was learnt, did not get the text in time because her phone was off. Several minutes later, Oladipupo was found dead in his room. He allegedly committed suicide. The incident happened last week in Asherifa Hostel, opposite the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in Ile-Ife, Osun State. The late Oladipupo was a 400-Level Law student. But the police disagreed with the suicide theory. The Osun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Folashade Odoro, a Deputy Superintendent (DSP), said the student died of “stomach ache”. Students besieged

Missing Malaysian Jet: Passengers’ phones are still ringing, claim relatives

Relatives of passengers aboard the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 claimed that they were able to call cell phones of their loves ones, according to media reports. The Washington Post said that the families of some of the 239 people onboard the missing Boeing 777 claimed to have heard the mobile ringtones. “In some cases, the relatives could see them active online through a local Chinese networking site called QQ,” the Post reported. The eerie development comes even as Malaysian authorities described MH370′s disappearance an unprecedented mystery. One man told the Washington Post that his brother-in-law’s QQ account indicated that he was online. Frustratingly for those desperate for some news or sign, messages have gone unanswered and calls were not picked up. Search and rescue (SAR) operation involving 10 countries has so far failed to find any trace of the missing airliner. Britain’s Daily Mail reported that the phantom phone calls and online presence had set off a new level

Odder By The Hour: Unknown Chinese Group Claims Responsibility For Missing Malaysian Plane By Mirror UK

A previously unknown group – the Chinese Martyrs’ Brigade – has claimed that it was behind the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370. An email was sent to various journalists in China, saying: “You kill one of our clan, we will kill 100 of you as payback.” But officials in Malaysia have said they believe the group’s claim could be a hoax. The email did not explain what had happened to the plane. Malaysia’s acting transport minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, said today: “There is no sound or credible grounds to justify their claims.” It is reported that the email could be designed to increase ethnic tensions between Uighurs and Han Chinese in the wake of a knife attack in Kunming on March 1 in which 29 people were killed and more than 100 were injured. Officials said the message was sent through an anonymous Hushmail service that is virtually impossible to trace. Investigators have also revealed that debris that was believed to be from the plane turned out to be unconn

Flight 370 was last detected flying over a small island hundreds of miles from the flight's usual route, a Malaysian official said.

(CNN)-- Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 was hundreds of miles off course, traveling in the opposite direction from its original destination and had stopped sending identifying transponder codes before it disappeared, a senior Malaysian Air Force official told CNN Tuesday. If correct, these are ominous signs that could call into question whether someone in the cockpit might have deliberately steered the plane away from its intended destination, a former U.S. aviation investigator said. "This kind of deviation in course is simply inexplicable," said Paul Goelz, former managing director of the National Transportation Safety Board. However, veteran pilot Kit Darby, president of Aviation Information Resources, told CNN's Wolf Blitzer that mechanical problems could still explain everything: A power failure would have turned off the main transponder and its backup, and the plane could have flown for more than an hour, he said. According to the Malaysian Air Force official, who dec
