The Portugal international scored twice on Tuesday evening to etch his name into the record books yet again
Cristiano Ronaldohas equaled Ferenc Puskas' goalscoring record for Real Madridafter scoring twice in the Champions League last-16 second-leg encounter against Schalke on Tuesday evening.
The two-time Ballon d'Or winner scored the opening goal of the night on 21 minutes and then restored Madrid's lead after Tim Hoogland's 31st minute leveler to take his tally to 242 goals in just 236 games.
The 29-year-old has reached that landmark total having played 25 fewer games and been with the club three years less (five) than Puskas (eight).
Ronaldo's continued efforts in front of goal mean he retains the record of being the only Madrid player to average more than a goal a game.
The Portugal international's next strike will move him into fourth place in the club's all-time top goalscorers list, with only Santillana (290), Alfredo di Stefano (307) and Rau (323) ahead of him.
