Did you know that Facebook and Rambo are among the banned ….

If you’re planning to name your baby Facebook or Rambo, you should think twice before migrating to Mexico. According to official reports, earlier this month the Mexican state of Sonora has officially banned 61 names from their name registries. Cristina Ramirez, Civil Registry director of Sonora, explained the reasons behind the new ban. The state registries have been filled with meaningless or strange names, such as Marciana (which translates into Martian) and Juan Calzon (Juan Underpants), which transform a child into a subject of bullying later in his/her life. In order to prevent bullying, depression and more derogatory names the state has decided to ban a list of names. The list, which includes 61 names, may expand, since officials are still going through 132 additional registries. Mexico isn’t the only one to ban strange baby names. “Ovnis” is banned in Portugal, since it means UFO, Japan has banned the name “Akuma”, which translates into Devil, and Malaysia has banned “Chow Tow”, because it translates into Smelly Head.
