Covid: How to look after yourself at home

Image
So you've caught Covid. What now? Obviously, stay away from other people to avoid giving it to them. In terms of your own wellbeing, here's what experts recommend. Tell family and friends Don't suffer in silence. Let people know that you have Covid. They might be able to help with dropping off some food to your door and give you a call to check how you are doing. Rest up Even with newer variants of the virus like Omicron and Delta, many people will have mild or no symptoms and will be able to safely ride out the infection at home. The main symptoms, says the NHS, are still: a new, continuous cough a fever/high temperature loss of or change to smell or taste But researchers who have been gathering feedback from hundreds of thousands of people about their experiences with Covid suggests the top five symptoms are similar to a cold: runny nose headache fatigue (either mild or severe) sneezing sore throat If you feel grotty, there are things you can do that may help.

Omicron: Why do boosters work if two doses struggle?

Image
The heavily mutated Omicron variant has led to a serious dent in the ability of vaccines to protect us from catching the Covid virus. Two doses of some vaccines offer almost no protection from an Omicron infection, although they should still greatly reduce the risk of becoming so ill you need hospital care. The vaccines were all developed to fight the first form of the virus that emerged two years ago. So can a third or "booster" dose of those original vaccines make the difference or has Omicron already outwitted the protection they can give? Fortunately for us - while the contents of the syringe may be identical, a booster is not just more of the same for the immune system. The protection you're left with after the third dose is bigger, broader and more memorable than you had before. Covid school Fighting coronavirus is something your immune system has to learn. One option is to figure it out on the job when you encounter the virus for real. However, there is

Omicron: Good news, bad news and what it all means

Image
The world is being hit by a tsunami of Omicron. Scientists, politicians and indeed all of us are grappling with what it means for our lives. Restrictions are tightening in parts of the UK and other European countries in order to tackle the new variant. There's a constant stream of new information - some worrying, some positive. So where do we stand? This is not last winter It is easy to forget, but we are in a much brighter place than this time last year when many of us could not meet family on Christmas Day. The "Christmas bubble" rules meant in parts of the country you could spend the day only with those you lived with. But there were limits on the size of gatherings across the UK. The rise of the Alpha variant in late 2020 led to lockdowns in November and a long one in the New Year as the vaccination programme was only just getting going. The rules currently in place or coming into force on Boxing Day in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are much gentler

I Love My Generation

Image
My generation were those creative and adventurous set of generations, they never relent and are ready to take prosperous risk regardless of its outcome. GAMES In the absence of Playstation (PS series), my generation can create a football tournament from a soft drink cover (counters). My generation will never run away from police or harassed by SARS but we always run away from NEPA (National Electric Power Authority), because we had redesigned the electricity pole with thread, nylon, pieces of clothes and broomsticks all in the name of kites. There is no much games then but we always create games that will suit our conditions like table soccer, Suwey, ten ten, bread and butter, skipping, hide and seek, who is in the garden, card games, ludo, snake and ladder, tic tac,  The only video game available then is Nintendo's street fighter, Super mario and Mortal Kombat. EDUCATION Education is very good when my generation is coming up, we have less private schools then and the s

The companies made this known in a joint statement on Wednesday titled, ‘Pfizer and BioNTech provide update on Omicron variant’. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Pfizer, Albert Bourla, said, “Although two doses of the vaccine may still offer protection against severe disease caused by the Omicron strain, it’s clear from these preliminary data that protection is improved with a third dose of our vaccine. “Ensuring as many people as possible are fully vaccinated with the first two-dose series and a booster remains the best course of action to prevent the spread of COVID-19.” Co-Founder of BioNTech, Ugur Sahin, said, “Our preliminary, first dataset indicates that a third dose could still offer a sufficient level

The king had many possessions including lands, houses, male and female servants, jewelries, and he had many animals to add to his possessions including horses, cattles and cat.
