In the press statement made available to our correspondence states the, Com Ishola Lukmon is still a student of the institution and therefore, he cannot contest for the post of Public Relation Officer for the Alumni Association according to the Constitution, and ordered the Electoral committee to write him with immediate effect to notify him of his disqualification.
They also upheld the candidature of Com Olayiwola Stephen based on the fact that he is undergoing an affiliated course in Ogun State College of Health Technology.
The tribunal also upheld the date for the Election as Saturday 23rd of November, 2019.
The letter reads:
Re: ALUMNI ELECTION 2019
Dear Alumnus,
Having carefully study and digest all received petitions including the new adopted Constitution of the Alumni Association without any bias or ambiguity, the Election Tribunal committee resolved as following;
1. That the membership of Com. Ishola Lukmon as Alumnus is already in question due to his FURTHER pursuit of study in the College as stated by the Constitution provision of article iv, section 6, sub section 4(vii) hence the bold step taken by the Electoral committee is in order until otherwise proven by a competent court of law.
2. That the candidature of Com. Olayiwola Stephen contesting for the post of President is authentic as all facts has been established that he is running an affiliated degree course in the college and not a certificate course of the institution.
3. That the Election as earlier fixed for Saturday, 23rd November, 2019 be allow to hold in the best interest of the Alumni Association.
4. That the Electoral Committee should as a matter of urgency write an official letter to the aspirant contesting for the post of Public Relation Officer to notify and inform him duly of his disqualification in the election while stating the reasons for that action.
5. That the supremacy of the constitution matters above all personal interest and sentiment as enshrined in Article 1, section 1, sub section 6 of our Constitution hence appeal to all aggrieved party(ies) to shed their swords and allow supreme peace reign in the Alumni Association while redress of this matter can be taken to any competent court of law IF the concerned Alumnus are not satisfy as we must remind ourselves to be law abiding in everything we do.
Thanks and God bless.
