Senator (Otunba) Kunle Oyero

Kunle Oyero (1927) is a Nigerian politician, lawyer and activist who was secretary of the Socialist Workers and Farmers Party in 1965. He was also president of the Nigerian Youth Congress. During the Nigerian second republic, he was a member of the senate, and served as the chairman of the foreign relations committee. He won the Ogun senatorial election, defeating the late Simbiat Abiola.
Kule Oyero was born to the royal family of Emmanuel Oyero on October 28, 1927 in Oyero village, Ogun state. He went to schools in Oluke and Abeokuta before attending University College, Hull and Kennington College of Law. He was briefly a teacher in the late 1940s, and taught at his alma mater, Abeokuta Grammar School. After earning a law degree in 1955, he entered the legal profession.
In the 1960s, he was a notable member of a few organizations including the Nigerian Bar Association where he served as a vice president and the radical Nigerian Youth Congress. He also led the Oyero Progressive Union in the 1960s.
