Iran claim drone attack in early hour of Thursday

Iran’s army has claimed that it targeted a satellite antenna used as an early-warning site in Qatar in the early hours of Thursday, as part of a wider wave of drone attacks on U.S. military installations across the region, according to Tasnim News Agency, a semi-governmental Iranian news outlet.

Tasnim, affiliated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, also reported Iranian military claims of strikes on a Patriot air defence system in Kuwait and U.S. military fuel storage tanks in Bahrain. Iran described the attacks as a response to what it called U.S. aggression against Iranian territory and military units.

Qatar residents received an elevated security threat alert on Thursday morning, followed by a ‘security threat eliminated’ message approximately eight minutes later, the first such alert sequence in nearly three months, suggesting a swift interception.

The incident comes amid renewed regional escalations following Iranian attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, and retaliatory U.S. strikes on Iran.
