Mr Musiliu R. Tijani should not be treated bad because of Odua Nation, Family Appeal to Federal Government

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Chief Tijani D. Adebiyi, a leading advocate for student development in Nigeria and the founder of the Student Welfare Insurance Scheme (SWIS). 

Chief Tijani dedicated his life to advancing the welfare of Nigerian students through various initiatives, including the Insurance for All program, promoting Agricpreneur as a source of income, and fighting for better online study infrastructure. His unwavering commitment to justice and fairness for Nigerian students will be deeply missed.

During Chief Tijani's recent burial, his family has raised concerns about the absence of Mr. Musiliu Rotimi Tijani, a significant family member. Chief Sulaimon Tijani, the head of the family, has expressed his frustration with the Nigerian government’s actions and has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for leniency. He is requesting that the Department of State Services (DSS) cease their pursuit of Mr. Musiliu R. Tijani, who has been implicated in the Yoruba Nation agitation alongside Mr. Sunday Igboho.

Mr. Musiliu R. Tijani has been in hiding since the 2021 raid on Mr. Igboho’s home in Ibadan, which led to Mr. Igboho's exile. Both Mr. Musiliu and Mr. Igboho have been unable to attend important family events, such as funerals, due to their political struggles. Chief Sulaimon Tijani is calling for Mr. Musiliu’s removal from the DSS wanted list, drawing a parallel with Mr. Igboho’s recent reconciliation and requesting that the government allow Mr. Musiliu R. Tijani to return home.

Chief Sulaimon argues that being associated with a socio-cultural or political group should not be a criminal offense if the individual is not engaging in unlawful activities. He emphasizes that Mr. Musiliu R. Tijani’s involvement with the Odua People’s Congress (OPC) and the Yoruba Nation should not justify his continued persecution.

The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) has issued a 15-day ultimatum to the Federal Government of Nigeria to address the long-standing demands of Nigerian nurses.  This decision was made during the NANNM's National Executive Council meeting in Abuja on August 28, 2024.
