Another Deadly Cult Clash Involving 5 Secondary Schools In Ogun As Students Freely Use Axes, Charms

There was pandemonium in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital on Friday 11the December2020, following supremacy and cult clashes involving five different secondary schools in separate locations around same time.

The crises erupted around 2pm, just about closing time in the open glare of the public as nearby residents scampered for safety.
The schools involved included students of Catholic Secondary School, Pansheke, who are in rivalry with their counterparts in nearby Ijemo Titun High School, Ibara.

Also involved are students of African Church Grammar School, Ita-Eko, who are in supremacy battle with those of Gateway Secondary School, Pepsi area.

The fifth school is St. Peters High School, Olomore, whose students were spotted in red-red outfits, ostensibly for cult initiation rites. 

Moments after, fracas ensued during which dangerous weapons like daggers, axes and charms were freely used.

Many students sustained injuries but the intervention of policemen from Adigbe Police Station saved the situation.

Officials of the National Schools Crime Prevention Corps(NSCPC) were immediately on ground and helped to rescue eight of the injured students to the State Hospital, Ijaiye, Abeokuta.

Some of the students arrested were taken straight to Juvenile Correctional Facility at Adigbe while a few of them landed at Adigbe Police Station

Interviewed, the NSCPC Commandant, Folayinka Ige, disclosed that the incidences of cult clashes in secondary schools in the state has become a normal trend.

Ige appealed to the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun not to ignore the incessant trend, saying it might portend greater danger ahead.
