GOV ABIODUN APPOINTS TRANSITION COMMITTEES FOR 20 OGUN LGAs

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has appointed transition committees for the 20 local government areas of the state.

Elected chairmen completed their tenures in October 2019. The transition committees will be in place until the Ogun State Electoral Commission (OGSEIC) conducts election to pick new council chairmen.

According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the State Governor, Mr Kunle Somorin, the new caretaker committee members were chosen in furtherance of the Government philosophy of inclusive and participatory governance.

Each of the committees comprises of a chairman, a vice chairman, secretary to the local government and two members (see list attached)...

Gbenga Adeboye gave me my nickname - Shoshogirisho

A well known broadcaster and musician, Mr Oluwole Osikoya Popularly called Gbenga Allyson or Shoshogirisho, said in a media chat in Abeokuta that the last multi talented broadcaster, producer and entertainer, Prince Gbenga Adeboye, gave him his nickname. Lagos #EndSARS panel illegal, can’t probe military, police – Keyamo

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo (SAN), on Sunday dismissed the #EndSARS panel set up by the Lagos State Government and the report it presented to state government recently. Keyamo said it was out of the jurisdiction of the panel to investigate the activities of Federal Government institutions and officials such as the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Army. The minister, while appearing on Sunday Politics, a current affairs programme on Channels Television which our correspondent monitored from Abuja on Sunday, however, said he was not speaking for the Federal Government. Labour leaders on Saturday repeated their advice to President Muhammadu Buhari not to be misled by some governors on the new minimum wage demand by Nigerian workers. Labour Speaking during a working visit to Ado Ekiti, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Mr Ayuba Wabba, said there was no going back on the amount submitted to the Federal Government by labour. He described the threat by governors that paying N30, 000 as minimum wage would result to retrenchments as mere distraction by the governors on the issue. The number of Americans sickened each year by bites from infected mosquitoes, ticks or fleas tripled from 2004 through 2016, with infection rates spiking sharply in 2016 as a result of a Zika outbreak, U.S. health officials said Tuesday. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that some 96,075 diseases caused by bites by mosquitoes, ticks and fleas were reported in 2016, up from 27,388 in 2004, in an analysis of data from the CDC's National Notifiable Diseases Surveillance System. Infections in 2016 went up 73 percent from 2015, reflecting the emergence of Zika, which is transmitted by mosquitoes and can cause severe birth defects. Zika was the most common disease borne by ticks, mosquitoes and fleas reported in 2016, with 41,680 cases reported, followed by Lyme disease, with 36,429 cases, almost double the number in 2004.
