Ogun gov poll: Isiaka, Akinlade divide Yewa-Awori

Yewa-Awori  people  in Ogun West Senatorial District  are   divided  over the choice of a  consensus  candidate for  Saturday’s governorship poll in Ogun State .

The  district, which has  not produced a governor since the creation of the state in 1976,  has  two  candidates for the election.

Addressing reporters  at separate events  in Abeokuta,  the  Ogun West Stakeholders’ Forum and  Movement for Yewa-Awori for Governor disagreed over the choice of a  consensus candidate.

While Ogun West Stakeholders’ Forum has adopted  the  candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Gboyega Isiaka,   as its  candidate, MOYAG  has  settled for  the candidate of the Allied People’s Movement, Adekunle Akinlade.

Ogun West Stakeholders’ Forum in  a  statement  by the Coordinator,  Yewaland Development Union, Mr Semiu Fatogun, said  it  had  since   endorsed  Isiaka.

The group said the people of Ogun-West, Ogun Central and Ogun East were backing   Isiaka.

The group appealed to all Ogun-West indigenes to  vote Isiaka to enable Yewa-Awori people to realise   their dream of  having one of their own  as the  governor of the  state.

But MOYAG said  it was supporting  Akinlade   for   good governance in the state.

The chairman of the group, Sola Oyekanmi, said, “We call on all indigenes and registered voters in Ogun State to support the governorship candidate of the APM.”

“We have assessed the APM’s  candidate and we have concluded that he is competent and resourceful enough to serve the people of Ogun State as governor.
