The murderers of Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, the immediate past chief of defense staff, have released his abducted friend.
According to Punch, Badeh's friend was released following payment of ransom money running into millions of naira by his family.
It was recalled that the police had previously stated: “The former CDS suffered gunshot injury which resulted to his death, while his driver was injured and Badeh’s friend abducted.”
Following the release of Badeh's friend, authorities are reportedly working on the theory that the ex defense chief's murder may have been an abduction gone wrong.
It was further learnt that before Badeh’s murder, there had been two of such incidents along the Keffi-Abuja Expressway in the last one month.
Sources in the Nigerian Air Force are said to have disclosed that immediately after the Christmas break, there would be a joint briefing with the police and the Air Force.
An Air Force officer reportedly said: “While investigations were on, the family of Badeh’s friend paid a ransom to ensure his release. However, we have continued with the investigation and we have made progress. We will inform members of the public after the Christmas break."
Meanwhile, late Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh (rtd) was in his Toyota Tundra truck with registration number MUB 396 AA when he was shot by some unknown gunmen at a location in Gitata community on Keffi-Bade road, Nasarawa state.
Speaking on the unfortunate development, some residents of the community said Badeh was shot as he made his way from his farm between Koso and Kugwaru communities. They said the deceased chose to go through Panda road off the Keffi-Bade highway due to the dilapidation of the Mararaba route.
