A 13 year old boy has drowned in a pool, in Kano state.

The boy, Dayija Salisu, drowned while taking his bath in the pool, at Mariri Yankatsai village, in Dawaku local government area of the state.

Spokesman of the state fire service, Saidu Mohammed, said the tragic incident occurred on Wednesday morning.

He said, the agency received a distress call that a body was floating in the pond.

Mohammed said, the fire fighters on rushing to the scene recovered the body and handed it over to his father for burial.

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo (SAN), on Sunday dismissed the #EndSARS panel set up by the Lagos State Government and the report it presented to state government recently. Labour leaders on Saturday repeated their advice to President Muhammadu Buhari not to be misled by some governors on the new minimum wage demand by Nigerian workers. Labour Speaking during a working visit to Ado Ekiti, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Mr Ayuba Wabba, said there was no going back on the amount submitted to the Federal Government by labour. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that some 96,075 diseases caused by bites by mosquitoes, ticks and fleas were reported in 2016, up from 27,388 in 2004, in an analysis of data from the CDC's National Notifiable Diseases Surveillance System. Infections in 2016 went up 73 percent from 2015, reflecting the emergence of Zika, which is transmitted by mosquitoes and can cause severe birth defects.
