15 years anniversary, AMELTAN to honour dignitaries

The Association of Medical Laboratory Technicians and Assistants of Nigeria, (AMELTAN) Ogun state chapter will on Friday 16th November, 2018 start the event marking their 15th year existence in the state.

As released by the secretary of the organising committee doubled as the state organising secretary, Com Adewale Oyero, says that the program will start with a medical outreach on Friday.

"The program will start with Medical Outreach to the mechanic village at Ajebo road, abeokuta on Friday morning, and there will be indoor games at Alake sports center, Ijeja in the evening, before the Annual General Meeting, awards presentations, and induction of new members.

"Among the awardees include HRH Oba My.  A Dosumu (Onigua of Eggualand) as royal father, post humus awards to Mr Alatishe and Mr Aro" he added.


The two days program will end on Saturday along with seminar titled "standard practices in Medical Laboratory Science: your role and mine" with a keynote address by Mrs A. O Idowu from Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu.

OPay launches ‘OBus’, a public bus hailing service, in Lagos

Opera-backed OPay formally launched OBus, a bus hailing service, in Lagos last Saturday. This is coming barely a week after the introduction of OTrike in Aba. In its plan to become a multi-service commercial internet platform, Opay which started as a mobile payments platform in 2016, has within the past months added motorcycle hailing, personal loans, food delivery and tricycle hailing to its list of services. And it doesn’t seem to be resting on its oars. OBus, like ORide and OTrike, is a commuter transit service that operates using branded hummer buses for intrastate trips within Lagos. It has since inception been incorporated into the OPay app where ride orders can be made. NDLEA says they didn't torture actor while in custody

According to them, Babatunde Omidina (Baba Suwe) was not subjected to any physical torture during the period he was incarcerated by the agency. Mitchell Ofoyeju, Head, Public Affairs of the NDLEA, in an interview with PUNCH on  Thursday, October 6, 2016, said their operatives did not subject Babatunde Omidina (Baba Suwe), to physical torture during the period he was incarcerated by the agency for allegedly being in possession of hard drugs. Ebola Victim’s Death: FG, Lagos Launch Manhunt for Co-passengers

Following the death of an Ebola virus victim from Liberia, Patrick Sawyer, in Lagos, on Thursday, the Federal Government and the Lagos State Government have jointly launched a manhunt for some of the passengers of the airplane that brought the late Liberian into the country, Sunday Newswatch has learnt. The late Sawyer, who was reported to have arrived Nigeria last Sunday aboard a Liberian carrier, Asky Airline, was said to be in company of over 100 co-passengers of different nationalities, among who were about 35 Nigerians. The 40-year-old visiting Liberian died of the deadly virus after being tested positive to the disease at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH). Popular Ibadan hotel shuts down, disengages staff

Scores of workers of Premier Hotel in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, have been disengaged Our correspondent learnt that Premier hotel, one of the edifices built during the defunct Western Region government, has shut down. The hotel is owned by Western Hotels Limited, a subsidiary of Odu’a Investment Company Limited, established by the defunct Western Region government. The hotel was deserted when our correspondent passed through Mokola hill. Group Managing Director of Odu’a Investment Company Limited, Adewale Raji, when contacted, confirmed the development. Buhari’s Eligibility: Court Adjourns Hearing Till April 22, 23

The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned hearing in all cases questioning retired General Muhammadu Buhari’s eligibility to contest in the 2015 presidential elections, to the 22nd and 23rd of April. The court also dismissed the application filed by two other parties one Ebunoluwa Adegoruwa, a human rights activists and another Chukwuma Ochu seeking to be joined in the suit. Trial judge, Justice Adeniyi Ademola said the applicants are no more than meddlesome interlopers seeking to waste the time of the court and as such their applications concerning Buhari’s eligibility are frivolous and is thereby struck out. The two parties before the court had approached the court to be joined as defendants in the suit.
