EFCC IDENTIFIES GREED AS MAJOR CAUSE OF ECONOMIC, FINANCIAL CRIMES

Greed, defined as an intense and selfish desire for something, especially, wealth, power or food is the root cause of corruption, economic and financial crimes
This was posited by the Head, Schools Integrity Club Desk, Enlightenment and Re-Orientation Unit of the Public Affairs Department, EFCC, Zainab Bello Tifi on Friday July 6, 2018 at the EFCC Academy, Karu, Abuja while addressing pupils of Redeemers Private Schools, Karu, Abuja on excursion to the Commission.

Tifi who lectured the Pupils on the dangers of corruption, economic and financial crimes said, “you need to know that anyone who does not have integrity can easily fall into the temptation of committing crime”.

During the interactive session of the visit, the pupils identified and listed some negative vices practicable by undisciplined pupils as “early age corrupt practices” such as inflation of pocket allowance, cultism, lying, stealing, cheating, examination malpractices and falsehood amongst others.

The visibly delighted pupils, in a vote of thanks delivered by the Head Girl and Head Boy, eulogized the EFCC for the reception. “We want to thank you for teaching us about corruption” said Ebube Ojini, Head Boy.

“I will like to appreciate the EFCC for giving us the opportunity to come here and improve our knowledge” said the Head Girl, Victory Ibrahim.

Bolanle Egwurube who led the students, also thanked the EFCC for honouring the school’s request for the visit.

“We shall ensure that the Integrity Club is established in our School as soon as it is possible. It is a welcome idea. We thank the EFCC management for opening their door for young future leaders like this to come and learn," she said. she was presented with some EFCC publications for the School's library.
