Political leaders in Ogun West Senatorial District of the State has convened a political summit aimed at mobilising support for the aspiration of the zone in 2019.

Addressing a press conference, Monday, at the NUJ Secretariat in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, the leaders under the aegis of Ogun West Leaders Council, said they were ready to address issues depriving the zone since the establishment of the state.

Reading the text of the statement, the Chairman of the Council, Ajibola Olagbaye said lack of unity, lack of a rallying point and multiplicity of interests among aspirants, amongst others have been accusations militating against the zone.

He said though, some of the allegations have been debunked in the past, they are not peculiar to Ogun West alone, coupled with its heterogeneity which are missing in other districts.

According to Olagabaye, the Council has been more engaging with other districts to ensure the success of its candidacy in 2019.

He said the Summit will mobilize support, encourage and mentor aspirants, promote unity and peaceful interaction amongst the aspirants as well as persuading other district to drop their aspirations.

He revealed that no fewer than 500 stakeholders from in and out the District would assemble to make statements, send messages and charge participants to be ambassador of the aspiration in their respective communities.

While thanking Governor Ibikunle Amosun for declaring support for the zone, the Council said it is more determined and encouraged to have enlisted the Governor’s support.

While fielding questions from journalists, Olagbaye said the Summit is not to produce a flagbearer but to mobilize support for the zone.

While reacting to the statement of Governor Amosun of his intention to hand over to a wizkid from the one, the leaders said they are fully in support of whoever the Governor would present weather old or young.
