Staff Union Call For Removal Of FUNAAB VC

The Senior Staff Association of the Nigerian Universities (SSANU), FUNAAB Chapter has called for the removal of the institution’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olusola Oyewole.

The Union is calling for the removal due to alleged high handedness, betrayal of public trust among others

After its emergency meeting held at the premises of the institution, the Union also called for the dissolution of the institution’s Governing Council.

The Executive Committee of the Union, under the Chairmanship of Rotimi Fasunwon, had called the emergency congress to take a position on three members of the association, who were allegedly suspended by the Vice Chancellor.

Prof Oyewole was said to have, in a letter issued and signed by him, which was read to the congress by Mr Fasunwon, had accused three members of the union of an alleged acts prejudicial to the smooth running and governance of the university “.

Effort to get the reaction of the Director of Public Relations of the institution, Mrs Emmy Alawode, proved abortive as she said on phone that she is “not ready to say anything about the development”.

Doctors remove 40 knives from man’s stomach

A man in India spent two months swallowing knives and had 40 of them surgically removed from his stomach, according to the doctor who led the operation. “He had a wild urge to consume metal. Even for us, the experienced surgeons, it was frightening,” Dr. Jatinder Malhotra told  CNN.  “We were so nervous… a small mistake could have taken the patient’s life. In my 20 years of practice, I have never seen anything like it,” he added. Malhotra said it took his team about two days to form a diagnosis and surgery plan and the operation lasted for five hours. SSANU protests sack of 23 FUNAAB workers, indicts EFCC

MEMBERS of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) yesterday rallied support for the 23 workers sacked by the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) in Ogun State. The association protested the sack by disrupting movement into the campus while they accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of betrayal by releasing the names of the whistleblowers to the management of FUNAAB.
