The Cross -River state Police have arrested members of some cult groups who have been terrorizing residents of Calabar South Local Government in the State.

This arrest follows a deadly clash between rival cult groups, identified as ‘Vikings’ and ‘Scorpions’. The clash is said to have claimed lives and properties in the region.

Speaking to journalists, the state Police Public Relations Officer
(PPRO), Mr. Hogan Bassey, said that the Command has made arrest
of not less than 40 suspected cultists, kidnappers, one chance
operators and armed robbers at different locations in the state.

dangerous weapons that included locally-made pistols and axes,
fake paper prints in form of money, as well as other deadly
weapons.

Mr Bassey averred that the Police will not relent in its efforts to
checkmate the excesses of these groups and create a conducive
atmosphere for business to thrive in the state.

He maintained that the command is partnering with other security
agencies and increasing their visibility policing, intensive foot and
vehicular patrols to keep criminals on their toes.

An arrested driver and his accomplice in the ‘one chance’ business
who came into the state from Enugu to dupe passengers of their
