How to prevent Hang-over

A scientific review of the most popular hangover "cures" published in the British Medical Journal reported that the so-called cures like specific foods — including pickled herring, miso soup, Orange Fanta, pills, or powders — provide little (if any!) relief. Most people who drink will have a hangover at some point. The symptoms associated with a hangover — throbbing headache, nausea, dry mouth, dizziness, and fatigue — are thought to stem from alcohol withdrawal, high acetaldehyde (a byproduct of alcohol metabolism), congeners (a byproduct present in red wines and dark liquors), and low blood sugar. A sobering fact is that abstinence is the only way to 100 percent guarantee that you won't get a hangover. Here are 5 ways to help prevent or manage a hangover if you have one too many. * Hydrate Alcohol acts as a diuretic, so to help prevent a hangover, staying hydrated is key. Drink plenty of water before, during, and after you drink alcohol. Instead of the 1

•APC candidate worried about misuse of military All Progressives Congress ( APC) presidential candidate Gen . Muhammadu Buhari is worried about what he calls the government’s penchant for misusing the military. Speaking yesterday at a news conference in Abuja, Gen . Buhari urged his supporters to shun violence during tomorrow ’s presidential and National Assembly elections . Gen . Buhari also said that he was not contesting the election because of power and money, but because of the belief by Nigerians that he is in a position to lead them out of despair . He thanked Nigerians for their support throughout his campaign and urged them to conduct themselves peacefully throughout the elections. They must resist “ any act of deliberate provocation to derail the fast moving train of change” . He said the democracy being practised in the country is not what Nigerians bargained for when they celebrated the end of military rule in 1999, pointing out that the basic challenges fa

Buhari’s Eligibility: Court Adjourns Hearing Till April 22, 23

Image
The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned hearing in all cases questioning retired General Muhammadu Buhari’s eligibility to contest in the 2015 presidential elections, to the 22nd and 23rd of April. The court also dismissed the application filed by two other parties one Ebunoluwa Adegoruwa, a human rights activists and another Chukwuma Ochu seeking to be joined in the suit. Trial judge, Justice Adeniyi Ademola said the applicants are no more than meddlesome interlopers seeking to waste the time of the court and as such their applications concerning Buhari’s eligibility are frivolous and is thereby struck out. The two parties before the court had approached the court to be joined as defendants in the suit. While Mr Adegoruwa premised his application on the grounds that he is a pro-democrat who wants to ensure that all parties are granted equal rights, Mr Uwa told the court that his application is on the grounds that General Buhari is his candidate in the 2015 presidenti

Court adjourns suits seeking Buhari's disqualification to March 24

Abuja - A Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed March 24 for ruling in the suits seeking to disqualify the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Muhammadu Buhari from the March 28 presidential election, reports Vanguard. At the resumed hearing on Thursday, counsel to Buhari, Wole Olanipekun (SAN) brought an application challenging the mode of service of the originating processes on Buhari. Buhari insisted that all the suits were targeted at stopping the presidential election. He maintained that no court has the power to stop the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) from conducting presidential election on March 28. But counsel to one of the plaintiffs, Mike Ozekhome (SAN) urged the court to expedite hearing on the matter to enable it to determine the fate of Buhari before the presidential election.

Image
Doctors have performed the world's first successful penis transplant. The nine-hour operation by surgeons in Cape Town offers hope to high numbers of South African men who lose their penises due to complications with traditional circumcision. Experts thought the unnamed 21-year-old patient - who had to have his penis amputated three years ago after circumcision - would take two years to regain all function. However, it has taken just four months for this to occur - resulting in December's operation being declared a success. The surgery was five years in the planning at Stellenbosch University and Tygerberg Hospital. It was led by Professor Andre van der Merwe, who said: "We are very surprised by his rapid recovery. "It's a massive breakthrough. We've proved that it can be done - we can give someone an organ that is just as good as the one that he had. Students decry JAMB Computer Based Test

Students participating in the ongoing Joint Admission Matriculation examinations ( JAMB) and Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination ( UTME) have called on the examination body to review the use of computers due to poor networks and slow servers. According to Taofiq Oladimeji , who lamented the situation, students were unable to attempt enough questions due to insufficient time allowed and poor network system . “JAMB registrar Prof. Dibu Ojerinde and supervisor of Universal White Hall College , Mrs . Temilola Adeliyi and all other Computer Based Test ( CBT) centres must do something about this , ” he said . Oladimeji observed that students at the said examination centre were allowed only 45 minutes to write 4 papers instead of 3 hours and 45 minutes . Ladyzunga Cyborg changed her name to letters in english alphabet

Image
A Colombian woman recently changed her name to include all 26 letters in alphabetical order. Her first name is Abcdefg Hijklmn while her last name is Opqrst Uvwxyz. Before the latest change in nomenclature, the 36-year-old was called ‘Ladyzunga Cyborg’, a name she came up with along the line. She is notorious for the act but her latest stunt is believed to be extremely bizarre. The Colombian in a recent television interview said: “I started looking for a name that nobody had in Colombia, or the world, so I thought about ABCDEFG HIJKLMN OPQRST UVWXYZ. “I’ve changed my name so people wouldn’t know it’s me. It’s not because I was disturbed by it, but because I always wanted to bring an element of surprise.” In an interview with Las 2 Orillas , UVWXYZ spoke about how she still prefers to be called Ladyzunga and that the entire alphabet is a tool used to name all things, and thus would allow constant reinvention. World's poorest president, Uruguay's Mujica steps down

Image
Uruguay's president, Jose “Pepe” Mujica, a former guerrilla who lives on a farm and gives most of his salary to charity, is stepping down after five years in office, ending his term as one of the world's most popular leaders ever. Mujica, 79, is leaving office with a 65 percent approval rating. He is constitutionally prohibited from serving consecutive terms. "I became president filled with idealism, but then reality hit," Mujica said in an interview with a local newspaper earlier this week, according to AFP. Some call him “the world’s poorest president.” Others the "president every other country would like to have." But Mujica says "there's still so much to do" and hopes that the next government, led by Tabare Vazquez (who was elected president for a second time last November) will be “better than mine and will have greater success." Mujica said he succeeded in putting Uruguay on the world map. He managed to turn the cattle-

Pastor E A Adeboye

The life of Enoch Adejare Adeboye is a fulfillment of the scriptures in Zechariah 4: 10 which declare, “despise not the days of small beginnings.” Born in 1942 into a humble family in the village of Ifewara, Osun State located in the South-western part of Nigeria Enoch Adeboye often humorously states that his family was so poor that even the poor people called them poor. As a matter of fact, he unashamedly tells his congregation that he never owned shoes until he was eighteen years of age. What he possessed though were physical intangibles such as focus, consistency, diligence, ambition, a brilliant mind and a determination to succeed in life. In 1956 Enoch Adeboye was admitted into Ilesha Grammar School, Ilesha, Osun State , Western Nigeria and as a youth he discovered a passion for books, and an aptitude for science and in particular the field of Mathematics. This led to an academic journey in the field of Mathematics against incredible odds including but not limited
