Court clears Andrew Yakubu, ex-NNPC GMD, of money laundering charges

A federal high court in Abuja has discharged and acquitted Andrew Yakubu, former group managing director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), on charges of money laundering. On February 3, 2017, operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) raided the Kaduna property of the former NNPC chief and recovered the sum of $9.8m and £74,000 stashed in a fire-proof safe. He is alleged to have omitted the monies from the EFCC asset declaration form given to him to fill in 2015. Yakubu was arraigned before Ahmed Mohammed, the judge, on March 16, 2017, on a six-count charge bordering on money laundering and false declaration of assets. Yahaya Bello Deletes Abuja-Kaduna Train Manifest Hours After Tweeting It

Yahaya Bello, the Governor of Kogi State, has deleted a tweet revealing that only 398 people bought tickets for the attacked Abuja-Kaduna train. The governor had tweeted a manifest containing names, phone numbers of buyers and prices of tickets bought on Monday evening, only to delete it about two hours later. In a press statement, Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State, had revealed that only 362 people boarded the train. “The Kaduna State Government has received from the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), the detailed passenger manifest for the Abuja-Kaduna train service AK9, which was attacked by terrorists on Monday,” the statement read. “The documents received showed 398 passengers bought tickets for the trip, but 362 were validated as having boarded the train through the recognized turnstile. “The passenger manifest does not include NRC staff and security officials who were on board. “Furthermore, security agencies have reported that eig

World Bank suspends Nigerian firm, MD for bribery

SoftTech IT Solutions and Services Ltd., a Nigerian information technology solutions firm, and its Managing Director, Mr Isah Kantigi, have been sanctioned by the World Bank for suspected fraudulent conduct. The business was sanctioned for 50 months for its participation in the National Social Safety Nets Project, while the managing director was sanctioned for 60 months. Vaginitis is usually characterized by a vaginal discharge and/ or vulvar itching and irritation, and a vaginal odor might be present.  The three diseases most frequently associated with vaginal discharge are BV (replacement of the normal vaginal flora by an overgrowth of anaerobic microorganisms, myco-plasmas, and  Gardnerella vaginalis ), trichomoniasis ( T. vaginalis ), and candidiasis (usually caused by  Candida albicans ).  Cervicitis can sometimes cause a vaginal discharge. The House of Representatives has on Wednesday summoned the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika and the Chief of Defence Staff, Lucky Irabor, over the attack on Kaduna Airport and the Abuja-Kaduna train. The motion by Mr Nnoli was amended to include the bombing of the Kaduna bound train on Monday. Osun Murder Case: Court rules against Adedoyin & 6 workers, dismisses No Case Submission

Justice Oyebola Ojo of the Osun State High Court, Osogbo has ruled that Hilton Hotel owner, Dr. Rahmon Adedoyin, and six of his workers have a case to answer over the death of a postgraduate student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Timothy Adegoke. Counsel to the defendants which was led by Mallam Yusuf Alli, SAN told the court at the last sitting that the defendants do not have a case to answer because the prosecution failed to establish any case against his clients, which the prosecutor, M O Omosun opposed. At the sitting on Wednesday, while dismissing the No case Submission,  Justice Ojo said a prima facie case was established against all the defendants. She said: “Evidence before the court states that Timothy lodged in the hotel owned by Adedoyin. Adesola who is the 7th defendant, the receptionist received the lodger.” The court also held that wife of the deceased spoke to him while in the facility but he could not be reached afterward by the wife.
