Sonariwo requested for Awolowo state creation

Paramount ruler of Remo Kingdom, Oba Michael Adeniyi Sonariwo, Akarigbo of Remo has called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the Federal Government to create Awolowo state out of Ijebu and Remo divisions of Ogun State. The monarch said creating Awolowo state would put an end to the controversies that have been trailing the creation of Ijebu state since the agitation started decades ago. The rationale behind this, he said was that Ijebu and Remo have been agitating for the creation of a state out of the old Ijebu province. He argued further that the place remained the only province in Nigeria today, which has not become a state out of the provinces created during the colonial era. The royal father, however, said the serious controversies that had been hindering the creation of the state was identity crisis because Ijebu state wanted Ijebu created and the capital located in Ijebu Ode. FIFA announces the Ballon d'or nominees

FIFA and France Football have today announced the names of the nominees for the FIFA Ballon d’ Or and for the FIFA World Coach of the Year for Men’ s Football awards . The awards recognise the best in each category , without distinction of championship or nationality , for their respective achievements between 22 November 2014 and 20 November 2015 inclusive . The final decisions will be made by the captains and head coaches of the men’ s national teams as well as by international media representatives selected by France Football. The winners of all of the awards will be announced at the FIFA Ballon d’ Or as part of a televised show at the Zurich Kongresshaus on 11 January 2016 . LUTH Consultant's death: Police arrested widower

Dr Femi Thomas, widower of late Consultant Paediatrician at Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, Dr. Hestianna Thomas, was yesterday transferred to the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department, SCIID, Yaba, over alleged involvement in his wife’s death. Dr. Thomas as reliably gathered, submitted himself to policemen at Ajao estate division immediately his wife was certified dead at the LUTH last week. However during interrogation, he reportedly told policemen that his wife could have committed suicide, maintaining that he knew nothing about her death. As at yesterday, policemen at the Homicide section of SCIID had reportedly swung into action in their bid to unravel the cause of the late Consultant Paediatrician’s death and subsequently bring her assailants to book.
